LP Cover Designs
Category: Product design, Illustration, Print media
Already Friedrich Nietzsche knew that “without music, life would be a mistake”. We at OH! Graphics strongly agree and are always delighted when we can support musicians with our expertise and artworks, especially because cover design often takes a more artistic approach. Here are some examples of projects which we have created.
The Near Deaf Experience
The Near Deaf Experience is a rock band from Finland which is influenced by stoner and desert rock. The slow groove of this music genre often has something mystic about it, which was supposed to be reflected in the artwork. The illustration is supposed to be a homage to the art of Alphonse Mucha, one of the most famous Jugendstil artists of the 19th century. The artworks color palette, its natural shapes and the female warmth of the character are representing the Jugendstil era while details on the woman, such as her tattoos, add modern aspects of the 21st century.
Kivesveto Go Go
Kivesveto Go Go is a punk band from Kouvola, Finland. The band has released several records in the past and has approached OH! Graphics with a clear vision about how the cover of their following LP should look like. The board game “Afrikan tähti” is a, in Finland, well known board game which uses an illustration of the African Continent and its many landmarks as game board. The bands wish was to create a similar artwork of a Kouvolan version of the game as cover illustration. The artwork and the included landmarks from Kouvola which connect to the bands history and represent the towns own spirit.
